چکیده

Measured and analytical data are unlikely to be equal due to measured noise, model inadequacies, structural damage, etc. It is necessary to update the physical parameters of analytical models for proper simulation and design studies. Starting from simulated measured modal data such as natural frequencies and their corresponding mode shapes, a new computationally efficient and symmetry preserving method and associated theories are presented in this paper to update the physical parameters of damping and stiffness matrices simultaneously for analytical modeling. A conjecture which is proposed in [Y.X. Yuan, H. Dai, A generalized inverse eigenvalue problem in structural dynamic model updating, J. Comput. Appl. Math. 226 (2009) 42–49] is solved. Two numerical examples are presented to show the efficiency and reliability of the proposed method. It is more important that, some numerical stability analysis on the model updating problem is given combining with numerical experiments. © 2010 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

New Model Correcting Method for Quadratic Eigenvalue Problems Using Symmetric Eigenstructure Assignment

Finite element model correction of quadratic eigenvalue problems (QEPs) using a symmetric eigenstructure assignment technique was proposed by Zimmerman and Widengren (Zimmerman, D., and Widengren, M., “Correcting Finite Element Models Using a Symmetric Eigenstructure Assignment Technique,” AIAA Journal, Vol. 28, No. 9, 1990, pp. 1670–1676) and incorporates the measured model data into the finit...

A New Model Correcting Method for Quadratic Eigenvalue Problems Using a Symmetric Eigenstructure Assignment

Finite element model correction of quadratic eigenvalue problems (QEPs) using a symmetric eigenstructure assignment technique is proposed by Zimmerman and Widengren 1989, which incorporates the measured model data into the finite element model to produce an adjusted finite element model on the damping and stiffness matrices that matches the experimental model data, and minimizes the distance be...

Identification of Dynamic Damping Properties of a Flexible Structural Adhesive

In this paper dynamic damping properties of a nominated flexible structural adhesive have been identified using an extended-direct modal based joint identification method. It has been revealed that damping characteristics of adhesive are correlated to both frequency and mode shape. Young’s and shear moduli increase with frequency but damping on the other hand, decrease. The results showed that ...

The direct updating of damping and gyroscopic matrices using incomplete complex test data

In this paper we develop an efficient numerical method for the finite-element model updating of damped gyroscopic systems based on incomplete complex modal measured data. It is assumed that the analytical mass and stiffness matrices are correct and only the damping and gyroscopic matrices need to be updated. By solving a constrained optimization problem, the optimal corrected symmetric damping ...
